I love RTS ( Real time strategy) Games ever since I was a kid , growing up on command and conquer and then moving on with other titles in the series along with supreme commander, r.u.s.e, company of heroes , steel division , wargame , men of war even army men RTS! So I do get excited when there’s new/ upcoming RTS games that are in the works because for the last 15 years i’d say there hasn’t been many strategy games that have come out aside from some that I have mentioned.

This could be due to the fact that apparently no one is interested in these types of games according to an article on PC Gamer. Now the genre has been making a wonderful comeback as it’s flourishing in the recent years with a lot of smaller developers taking the help and introducing the next generation of gamers back into the RTS scene. There is proof of this as I do get comments on some videos I make asking where it’s from. There is also the fact i’m in a command & conquer group and there are so many new people joining and asking for people to play with along with tips etc.

We know that some IP’s have been tarnished such as command and conquer & act of war which are now mobile games… Need I say more? So when I see games like Stellar Warfare along with other games like tempest rising, fractured alliance & global conflagration it does give me a lot of hope.

So what is Stellar Warfare? Well it’s a space RTS game which does have inspiration from the likes of homeworld and no it’s not like homeworld 3 which is an absolute mess of a comeback. It’s simple, build a base by gathering resources from meteorites and other rocks along with capturing some very high tech looking buildings. Now I don’t know the lore of the game as i’ve only done a video on the wave survival which is a brand new mode, along with the skirmish.

For a game that is still in early access and this is due to come out on a full release the game is very smooth gameplay wise because as you can see later on with the bigger battles with the giant ships there is plenty going on. What is a very amazing feature is the direct control of any ship you have along with the cinematic camera to watch the battles in style.

It gets even better as you get to find hidden ships and upgrades which you can customize these ships! Yes changing the weaponry , defense along with a few other bits this sure is going to make a lot of battles more interesting as there are 100s of combos you can do on these ships!

With the homeworld inspiration with how maps are formed along with adjusting the height on where to build stuff & tell units where to go does have a huge advantage because if you see the video i’ve done I got a surprise attack by the enemy attacking from above.

There is also some ships and defenses with launch some fighters or bombers which is amazing along with finally unlocking the giant beasts of a ship which is challenging to do but it’s so worth it. To put a sweet cherry on top the soundtrack is great. Though there isn’t a lot of tracks ( for now I think) it’s still plenty to listen to!

So overall with Stellar Warfare with it being in early access it’s a strong contender for the RTS genre with large maps, very smooth gameplay and the ability to customize units and to have a steam workshop ( Mods) I am very looking forward to see what else gets added to the final product.
