Don broco are back with a new album, Nightmare Tripping, and they are back with the heavy and I don’t just mean with the guest vocals from Nickeback and Architects.
Every album they make has such a unique vibe for each era and in the recent years they’ve been teasing some heavy bangers and this Album is the cream of the cream. Ramping up the heavy riffs and vocals with screams was not on my bingo card but having released the first track last year , Cellophane, it gives a perfect glimpse on where the band is heading musically. We did actually get a sweet banger many years ago called “action” which did feature Caleb Shomo, Tyler Carter, Taka Moriuchi and Tilian Pearson which did feature such a heavy breakdown which was also like a mini supergroup!
The only pet hate I have with this album is the fact that basically half the songs are already out but they did leave us some gems still. It’s also mental that they collabed with Nickleback with Nightmare Tripping, it definitely was a trip and honestly it’s a perfect track and hard rock ballad with the signature Don Broco style and then with Chad’s softer vocals this will definitely be and emotional song to pit too.
Another Collab is with Sam from Architects, True Believers, with the build up and bang onto the screams which remind me a bit of stray from the path.
Ghost in the Night reminds me of One True Prince which is great. Honestly One True Prince is up there for one of my all time favourite Don Broco songs and I think people crave more of this and Ghost in the Night seems heavily inspired and at least we get some of that old broco guitar play too.

I swear Pacify Me is a tease of what we might get in the future, the intro has heavy riffs and growls but of course then splicing up with Rob’s softer vocals, it’s like sweet and sour splicing into one track.
Somersaults reminds me a bit of I See Stars’ Treehouse era. With a more dramatic approach the the vocals while maintaining those sweet guitar playing! Closing the album with The Corner, another softer track that feels more calm. Either this is perfect timing or a coincidence as most of the songs are more aggressive and this sets the tone to be calm now as the album is finished and it’s back to some kind of normality.
I didn’t feel the need to do a rundown on all the tracks as I’ve mentioned a load are already out but overall as an album it’s again a work of art. Don Broco is a band that constantly evolve on every album. Experimenting to find new ways without going too overboard. Fans still love their music I’ve seen very little complaints so they are definitely doing something right still. The band still has their signature style but heavily upping the scale on what is possible without kicking them out of the punk rock pop hybrid genre.
This always brings the question, what will they do next?
