If you were to take the warm and emotive vocals of Florence Welch, the understated and artsy aesthetic of Kate Bush and the down to earth relatability and introspection of Kate Nash then you’d end up with Jasmine Power.

Hailing from Pembrokeshire, Wales: Jasmine Power’s brand new single, Leap, deals with the concept of Hiraeth, a deep longing for a place in time that may be lost or perhaps just didn’t exist at all. With the increasing amount of nostalgiabait, it’s easy for people to look at things with rose tinted glasses and create a world that’s comfortable albeit disengenuous. However Leap comes from a much more real and relatable place.

It’s a bittersweet tone and feeling throughout the song with the big anthemic piano riffs giving this free sense of joy and comfort while the darker chords rip the listener right back down to reality. Everyone wants a place to feel safe and retreat when the world is cruel to them and perhaps this song may give some insight into those feelings.
