Live at Leeds is one of the many one day festivals that occupy Leeds at the beautiful Temple Newsam park. The festival is home to a wealth of superstars and up and comers in the indie scene. Here are just a handful of unmissable acts that are taking to the stage in just a few weeks.

Main stage north

Bloc Party performing Silent Alarm

Headlining Live at Leeds are Bloc Party, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their landmark indie pop rock album Silent Alarm. Their shows supporting Paramore back in 2023 show that they’re more than ready for a set of this magnitude.

Expect to hear classics like Banquet and Helicopter as well as a wealth of other hits from their 20 years of making hits.

Yard Act

Leeds locals Yard Act are set to bring their unique breed of talky indie rock to the main stage. Yard Act are a fairly laid back band with tracks 100% Endurance and We Make Hits leaning on this Velvet Underground vocal style and almost shoegaze style instrumentation.

The band can also bring the energy back up high on tracks like The Overload. Regardless of the vibe, expect pure
Yorkshire indie vibes throughout.

Sigrid

Norwegian synth pop star Sigrid brings this joyous yet somewhat somber energy to Live at Leeds as she hits the main stage. Strangers may be her biggest hit in the UK but she has two full albums full of underrated pop hits like Don’t Feel Like Crying and Mirror.

Check out her set if you’re a fan of acts like Robyn and Caroline Polacheck.

Main stage south

Manic Street Preachers

Headlining Main Stage South is the legendary Welsh Alternative Rock band, Manic Street Preachers. Their place in UK rock history has long been cemented with classic albums like The Holy Bible and Everything Must Go.

Jamie Webster

Regardless of who you are, there’s something about Jamie that makes him so accessible and relatable. Just look up Weekend in Paradise and This Place and you’ll be able to feel his lyrics on a visceral level.

The Amazons

The Amazons are a raucous bunch from Reading and they’re sure to cause some chaos as one of the heaviest bands on the lineup. They’re sure to give you that extra bit of momentum as the day starts to move along.

Their brand new album, 21st Century Fiction, drops just in time for Live at Leeds offers plenty banger singles including Night After Night which will fit nicely with tracks like In My Mind and Black Magic.

DIY BIG TOP

The Snuts

The Snuts are an up and coming band from Scotland and they have that 2010s Inbetweeners indie rock sound down perfectly. They may not be a particularly old band but they’ve mastered the art of imitating sound that came before them all while injecting new life into it.

Glasgow and Gloria are brilliant introductions to the band before they headline the DIY Big Top.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets

Aside from having the best name ever, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets are a prog rock band that prioritise instrumental skill and atmosphere much like the 70s prog rock bands that inspired them.

Highly recommended for fans of Yes and early Genesis. Be sure to check out their songs Found God in a Tomato and one of their newer tracks, Weird Wide Awoke.

Fat Dog

Fat Dog are a fairly new band but they’re quickly climbing the ladder in the indie rock scene. Their music is a blend of Indie Rock in the style of The Killers but with a more electronica leaning.

Expect them to come back on the bigger stage at Live at Leeds in the future. Just check out their singles Running and Peace Song for more proof.

Cockpit Stage

James Marriot

After his set at Live at Leeds in 2023, it was clear Youtuber/Indie Musician James Marriot could headline a stage and he’s finally made it. James Marriot will be closing the Cockpit Stage with a whole set of brand new music including the massive singles: I Don’t Want to Live Like This, It’s Only Love and Toothache.

Expect a set of Bastille esque indie rock with perhaps a bit of banter thrown in for good measure.

Kingfishr

Kingfishr are an Irish folk act that have glorious sweeping choruses and beautiful songs propelled forward by the authoritative and powerful voice of their frontman. Certainly worth a look if you like your songs with a touch of Irish folk music.

Check out their latest singles, Gloria and Man on the Moon for a better glimpse into their sound.

Luvcat

Luvcat is a dreamy pop rock band that features beautiful romantic lyricism with music that is so easy to drift and float away with that it becomes a hazard to listen to while driving.

Luvcat are opening the Cockpit Stage with a lighter bang but a bang nonetheless. Their newest single Love and Money is sure to set the ball rolling for an amazing day of Indie music at Live at Leeds.

Dork Stage

Arthur Hill

Arthur Hill released a brand new EP this year, In the Middle of Somewhere. It’s a bright and colourful collection of songs with a bit of a darker edge once you read into the lyrics. Check out Lily and Try a Little Harder for more info

Hey Arthur is a track that’s sure to get everyone dancing as Arthur Hill closes out the Dork Stage and the sun sets over Temple Newsam.

Sunday 1994

Sunday 1994 are a great band for a Lana Del Rey fan, not just because of the beautiful vocals from Paige Turner but that overall dreamy and hypnotic vibe you’d expect from the likes of Lana albeit with a bit more of a retro 90s feel to it.

It’s easy to get lost in gorgeous spacious tracks like Tired Boy and Devotion. Be ready for a glorious introduction once Sunday 1994 arrives in Leeds.

Aziya

Aziya is a British singer songwriter with a bit of a psychedelic tinge to her airy alt rock tracks, there’s even a bit of dance pop thrown in just for good measure. She’s had a history opening for The Vaccines, Nova Twins and even The Amazons, who are also appearing at Live at Leeds.

Her new single, Diamonds, is an infectious ear worm that will be stuck in your brain for days after you’ve experienced it live.

Beyond all these amazing bands there’s still the likes of Natasha Bedingfield, Public Service Broadcasting, The Pigeon Detectives, We are Scientists and a whole heap of comedy, karaoke and stuff that’s perfect for a beautiful summer day in Leeds.
