Ah yes the simulator saga has pretty much dominated the gaming industry over the past few years where pretty much anything is now a game. A lot of this is pretty dull in real life but as a game it’s quite magical.

I remember being a kid and seeing truck, flight & farming simulators and being blown away buy how awesome it looks but not having a decent gaming pc I wasn’t able to play these gems because the family pc cried a lot when i played rollercoaster tycoon 3 ( loved 1 & 2 was my favourite!)

I’ve always been laughed at for playing truck simulator because why on earth would you play a game where you just drive a truck but nothing beats playing that and farming simulator and now today both of these games dominate the gaming charts with SCS software behind Ets have spammed over 20 years ! Farming simulator dates back to 2008 too!

Both of these titles you’ll see at least one of the entries constantly on streams most active and it’s beaten a load of heavyweight games such as battlefield, fifa & call of duty so much so farming simulator has a competition that’s in a major esport event !

Along with these titles you do have bus simulator, car mechanic simulator, flight simulator, construction simulator which you can’t knock these off but I’m not a big fan of the bus one but it’s still pretty impressive.

Over the last couple years we’ve had a major spike in simulator games such as pet shop, car park, vet , shop junkyard  , police , thief ,bum , gunsmith , taxi , animals , even bee simulator ( add more here as there is loads)

So my question now is when will this actually stop and draw a line on what should be a game or not as some do seem just to be a cashgrab as the last thing we need is a mass amount of copy and paste games to go with loads of unfinished early access and rushed AAA games that are broken on release. 

Now don’t get me wrong having a game on a hobby you enjoy or influence you enough to actually to the job in real life which has actually been the case with fans of euro/American truck simulator as fans do post about passing thier driving test because a game , that is pretty amazing. Then go go have a game about owning a retail shop and as someone who has worked in retail for years , why would you do this . Saying that it is a lot tamer than having people scream at you because they can’t find the stuff they want / doesn’t exist in the shop or just have zero manners to staff but if it’s your kink then go for it.

I think it’s coming to the point where there is a game every month that’s a simulator based game which is pumped full of advertising and only a handful actually get released which I don’t know what’s worse that or the fact steam is getting swamped with a load of porn games which that’s for another story and sweet jesus what the hell is that about. 

Are you sick of seeing simulator games get spammed out or do you enjoy playing a load of them? What simulator game would you release? 

For me I’d want something like the car tycoon game which came out over 20 years ago , that game was ace!
